136 Days and Counting

I can not wait for more days like this! Troy will be leaving Iraq in less than seven weeks. Considering that we've survived over 19 weeks (136 days), it may go by quickly. I am using "leaving Iraq" as my count down because it could take as long as a week for him to get back to the base in Vegas and then he'll have to be there for three to six days getting processed back into the base there. So, it's more comforting to go with the "when he leaves" countdown than to try to guess when he may be here and use that number.

He and I and Zeke all three are so excited to see one another! It's so strange to go so long without seeing your husband. There are lots of little things that I didn't anticipate feeling during this separation. For instance, I get this like nervous butterfly thing when I think about kissing him again - almost like it was the first time we kissed.

I'm sure there will be lots of things that are going to require readjustment for both of us, but I am so excited just to be able to feel him again! To touch his face or sit beside him in the car or know he's there when I wake up in the middle of the night. I hope that he and I both remember how much we miss one another after we are together again so that we do better at appreciating each other and cherishing our time together.

I love him! I am so proud of him and his selfless service! Keep him and the rest of our service men and women in your thoughts and prayers.
