So Talented!

This is a video that was taken Easter 08. Troy and I had such a wonderful day!! After church we packed a picnic and went to the park to enjoy the weather and the grass. (A rare thing in Vegas.) We played Battleship and took a nap together on our blanket. The best part was being serenaded by my handsome husband. He didn't know that I was recording and I start moving the camera around alot at the end, but you can tell in just these few seconds what a lucky woman I am to have this man forever! :)

This is a song that he has been writing since we got married. The lyrics that I know of are now, "When you look into my eyes, I write another lullaby for our children's lives." He promised me before he left that he'd finish it by the time he got back. I can't wait to hear the whole song! It's gonna be GORGEOUS!

P.S. Scroll all the way to the bottom to mute the music player on my blog.

136 Days and Counting

I can not wait for more days like this! Troy will be leaving Iraq in less than seven weeks. Considering that we've survived over 19 weeks (136 days), it may go by quickly. I am using "leaving Iraq" as my count down because it could take as long as a week for him to get back to the base in Vegas and then he'll have to be there for three to six days getting processed back into the base there. So, it's more comforting to go with the "when he leaves" countdown than to try to guess when he may be here and use that number.
He and I and Zeke all three are so excited to see one another! It's so strange to go so long without seeing your husband. There are lots of little things that I didn't anticipate feeling during this separation. For instance, I get this like nervous butterfly thing when I think about kissing him again - almost like it was the first time we kissed.
I'm sure there will be lots of things that are going to require readjustment for both of us, but I am so excited just to be able to feel him again! To touch his face or sit beside him in the car or know he's there when I wake up in the middle of the night. I hope that he and I both remember how much we miss one another after we are together again so that we do better at appreciating each other and cherishing our time together.

I love him! I am so proud of him and his selfless service! Keep him and the rest of our service men and women in your thoughts and prayers.

My Black Thumb is GREEN!!! :)

Our little garden is growing pretty well! We lost a few plants to a frost about a month ago and a couple plants were trampled by the dog. But, it's a major progress for my black thumb.

We planted two rows of green beans from seeds, so 14 plants total, and still have about ten of them! They are growing nicely and are about to bloom.

The cabbage was planted from small plants that were about two inches high and are doing GREAT! We didn't lose a single one, and they are
large and lush and healthy!

Ok, so the good news is that I grew this monster of a zuccini plant from a seed. It's about two feet tall and nearly three feet in diamater. However, the bad news is that I planted nine of them, and this is the only one that made it.

Daddy has given me lots of crap for picking this little tomato, but I couldn't resist. It is the first thing I have actually ever produced! Very exciting! There are dozens more of these baby tomatoes now, so we'll have some fresh tomatoes very soon!

Update O' the Month

So, here I sit again, at the library. I've actually really enjoyed no computer at home. I am HIGHLY contemplating doing away with our internet in Vegas. I get so much other stuff done and can always use the public library's internet for FREE!

Things are still generally the same with the Morgan fam. Troy will be getting on a plane headed for the states in less than ten weeks!! :) We are in the single digit weeks now, which is wonderful! He's doing so well out there. This week he ran a 26 mile marathon on base. I wish I had half of his energy and fitness level! I'm very proud of him! It's the longest he's ever ran. He finished it in just over five hours.

Zeke and I are doing well. I'm getting very antsy and ready to be back in my home with my husband, but I'm trying to keep enjoying this time with my family because I know when I get home I'll miss them alot. As of yesterday I am 26 weeks pregnant! Only fourteen to go!! I haven't gotten to the "miserably big" point yet, but I feel it coming. Other than the first few weeks of total inability to keep anything down, I have really enjoyed this pregnancy!

Here are a few pictures of our current events:

Troy at the end of the marathon. He's so handsome!! I can't wait to get into his arms!!

I celebrated my 27th birthday this past Tuesday, April 21st. These are the gorgeous flowers that Troy sent me!

And this is the adorable dress that Rebecca sent me! The pictures are from my cell and are a bit blurry, but you get the idea.

Current Events in the Morgan Family

I haven't posted in a while as the kids somehow managed to give the home computer yet another virus and crashed the hard drive for the third time in the less than two year life of the computer. It's been inconvenient in some ways, but also has had some positivity to it in others. Usually, when I'm at home and bored the thing I do is get online to do the facebook/blogger/email thing and pass the time. With no computer readily available, I've taken a trip to the lake in town, washed and vacuumed my car each week, kept laundry caught up, started making jewelry, and other much more productive things.

I think once I get home, I will make it a goal to limit my computer usage so that I do more quality things throughout the day. That having been said, I'm now at the Brookhaven library using their computer (with a time limit).

Troy is doing really well. We celebrated our Hump Day on April 1 - he has been gone for three months and has three to go! Half-way done!! Supposedly the time will fly by from here on, but that is yet to be seen. I am grateful though, to have the majority of his deployment behind us and to be able to start planning for the near future of baby birth, moving back to Vegas and being sealed together in the temple.

Troy has stayed busy on base, especially with the weather turning warmer - more pests to take care of. He had to catch a cobra last week. Eeek!! Part of his job that he LOVES, and I prefer not to even think about. :) He's getting excited to come home and we are both so excited to be together again.

The baby and I are doing well. I am anxious to have little Zeke in my arms as opposed to in my ribs. :) He is going to be an active little guy! He is constantly kicking me in the bladder and ribs and enjoys doing so around two in the morning especially. :) I don't mind it in the slightest. It reminds me that he is there and that he is healthy and happy. At my last appointment we weighed 1 pound, 3 ounces and was already 13 inches long. He's going to be tall like his parents and have tons of energy like his dad. I am so excited to have him here and to be a mother!

Iraqi Bird Sanctuary

Troy is so amazing!! Not only is he kind, loving, talented and HOT, but he’s also so brilliant! I got to talk to him on webcam yesterday and he was telling me about a new project that he came up with and has gotten approval to move forward with.

So, part of his job is to shoot any birds that get near the working parts of the base. The main reason is that they are a strong danger to the flight line. The birds can get sucked into the jet engines, and cause major damage to the jet and danger to the pilots. They usually try to find the most humane and environmentally safe way to do their jobs as Entomologists. For example, instead of exterminating a bee hive that is in the way somewhere, they will find and relocate the queen and the rest of the hive will follow. The capture and tag stray animals and relocate them instead of killing them, etc. But this one job of killing the birds seemed to be the only option.

There is also at all the bases out there a “burn pile” or just a pile of various pieces of scrap metal and wood that has been discarded into a landfill of sorts. A lot of good materials go to waste. So, Troy presented the idea to a few higher ranking officials last week that he wants to start a project where they take materials from the burn pile and build a sanctuary for the birds somewhere on the far edge of base away from any place they would pose any type of threat to the mission. This would create a use for the discarded “landfill” of debris and create a way to eliminate the problem of the birds, but to avoid killing them. The officials loved the idea and gave Troy the go ahead!

He is so brilliant! And I love that he cares so much about our planet and making sure that he leaves the world better than he found it! He is throwing around the idea of working for the EPA after his enlistment or something of that nature where he can continue to help to make the environment better for the humans and the creatures that inhabit it! I love him!!

Both the seagull and the European Starling are birds that have inexplicably migrated to that area. These are the two main breeds that pose the biggest problem, and so will benefit the most from the bird sanctuary.

I miss you!

A picture that a friend of Troy's posted on Facebook. My honey is so handsome! I can't wait to kiss his face!
