Fun-Filled Weekend

Troy and I had a GREAT weekend!! We took a camping trip to Boulder Beach at Lake Mead, and went swimming and sun bathing the next morning.

We also went to an 80's themed party for Stephanie, Troy's co-worker's wife. It was so much fun to interact with other base families and to get to know other military wives better! The 80's theme was such a blast! There was a guy dressed as Tom Cruise from Risky Business and a girl dressed as an 80's party girl with two prescription pill bottles in hand. They were Smarties and Red Hots, but it definitely completed the look. :)

A Healing Day

So, I have recently begun therapy sessions to help Troy and I deal with The Wreck. (It has now become a proper noun, not just an event.) I told my mom that I have become quite the Westerner - I have a physical therapist, a personal trainer and a shrink. :) Most of which are free thanks to the perks of being a military wife.

My session last Thursday was wonderful! For the first time in a while, I broke down and just had a good sob about what happened to me. Paula (my therapist) said that I am going through a grieving process. She said that I am grieving the loss of life. She said that I got into that car on October 16 as a healthy, 25 year old young woman, and woke up in intensive care with the health of a 65 year old. She is right.

My health since the accident has been a roller coaster. My health problems include, but are not limited to: chronic kidney infections, stomach ulcers from the antibiotics for the kidney infections, severe heart problems from my heart stopping twice, diziness and headaches from the head injury, not to mention the neck problems from breaking four of the seven bones in my neck. I take more medications, and see (or should be seeing since I don't always go) more medical specialists than both of my grandmothers...combined.

She said that I am grieving a loss - a loss of health, a loss of memory, a temporary loss of life. She said that I need to cut myself a break, because every day can't be a Healing Day. I had never thought of it in those terms.

I am going through a healing process. I am blessed to have an amazing family and husband to support me in this process. Not to mention, my dozens of amazing friends who constantly give me words of comfort and encouragement. Thank you.

August Family Update

Hello, friends and family! I have recently become quite the insanely avid blogger. Troy and I set up this blogger account right after we were married, and I haven't done much...or anything actually, with it. I have used my personal blog quite often, and decided today to make this one our family blog.

My personal blog will be filled with my own personal thoughts, struggle, and triumphs. Whereas, this one will be a current events report of our lives together.

We are still living and still loving the beautiful Las Vegas! Troy is getting settled at work and smoothing things out quite nicely with co-workers that he butted heads with early on. He works for the 99th Squadron Entomology Group at Nellis Air Force Base. Though, he rarely complains, I imagine this summer has been tough for him. We have had a HOT summer here in the desert, and the majority of his work is outside. However, he is doing well, and loves the base.

I am working for Suzan Hudson and Frank Woodbeck. They are a husband and wife real estate investing team. I have learned so much! This job has been nearly like a paid internship.

Recent events: Troy and I are buying our first house. You can see pictures of it on my blog at http://www.finding-kimberly.blogspot.com/. We also have two new additions to our family: Indie and Polly, two adorable black cats that are as different in personality as Troy and I. Indie is alot like me - very mild mannered, calm, reserved, a bit anti-social at times and quite moody. Polly is a lot like Troy - nutsy hyper, fun-loving, affectionate, and extremely playful! You can also see pictures of them at my blog.

We have nearly survived our first summer here, and are looking forward to fall and winter. We've been able to go to Utah together to visit dear friends of ours, Troy has made a trip to Cali to see his dad and friends there, and I have made a trip to Montana to visit a dear friend of mine. We have been visited by my mom, my sister, Rebecca, my brother, Joel, my adopted family from Utah - the Browns, and Troy's Aunt Maureen, Uncle Neil, Nani, Aunt Martha and Uncle Rick, Dad and Vicky. And we are awaiting many more visits! :)

We love you all! We miss you! Thank you to all of you who have positively influenced our lives! It's incredible to me that two people could be so loved!
